Keeping the Pain Out of Car Insurance

Making sure you get the best deal on your car insurance can be a tough job.

There seem to be hundreds of thousands of companies out there, offering some sort of deal, but knowing which one to go for can be very difficult.

Life has been made slightly easier with the introduction of comparison websites, but still they can show you ultimately which company is offering the best price on car insurance, but not necessarily which will give you the best overall cover for the price.

After going on holiday many times last year, and taking our car with us pretty much every time, we have now learnt the lesson to take out car insurance with overseas protection as well.

We thought our original policy already had this cover, but just before we went on holiday we rang our provider to check, and we ended up paying quite a lot more to add it on. It would have worked out much cheaper if we had included it in when we took out the orignial insurance.

Also after talking to friends and relatives, there is also the option to have a multi car policy, which means the price of your insurance can drop dramtically. We sorted this out at the start of the year, and have noticed quite a substantial drop in our monthly payments – the only annoying thing about this is the payments for both our cars have to come out of the same account – but it is worth it for the money we are saving.

We are now looking to buy a new car, as we want a convertible for the summer months. We have noticed a couple of dealers who are offering free insurance and money back on their cars, so we will definitely be taking a trip to see them in the coming weeks.
