One of the most irritating household pests that you could have in your home is cockroach. Not only are these scurrying creatures an eye sore, but they could also prove to be potentially harmful to your health, as well as the health of your family members. In addition to this, they breed in the hundreds. Thus, for each roach that you see, you best be sure there are many more in hiding. This is why it is pertinent to always rid yourself of a roach infestation before things get out of hand. So, what are some of the tips that you could use to ensure your house is not infested by cockroaches?

1. Never take cleaning for granted! Roaches thrive in dirt and clutter. In addition to this, they also like damp environments. Ensure that your house is not a comfortable breeding ground for them. Always clean your dishes once you are done with every meal, as this ensures there are no leftovers that they can pick once you and your family have gone to bed. In addition to this, ensure all surfaces that have been used for food preparation have been properly wiped down so as not to attract any roaches.

2. Get rid of any hiding places that the cockroaches may make use of. These critters like damp and dark places to hide. If you have any cracks in your walls or on your floors, ensure that they are filled in as soon as possible. Another thing would be to regularly clean your cabinets. These critters can hide in the dark corners of the cabinets under the shelf paper. Change this shelf paper regularly.

3. Keep in mind that roaches can survive for long periods of time without food. However, a cockroach does need water to survive. Thus, ensure that all sources of water that they could use have been removed. Watch out for any water leaks from taps, and ensure there are no puddles either in your kitchen or bathroom.
